Il Castro was built in the 13th century as a rural hamlet on the via Francigena, an ancient pilgrimage route. An old story recounts that in the 16th century, the famous artist Michelangelo passed several nights here on a trip to Rome, fascinated by the beauty of the location.
Now the property opens its doors to guests looking for peace and relaxation in a historic location with beautiful landscapes, which is also a magical setting in which time seems to stand still.
The furnishings have been decorated by local craftsmen, and fit perfectly with the high quality designer accessories which make it so original, elegant and eclectic – unique also due to the high quality of its materials.
The Raffaello apartment is located on the first floor on the east side of the building, with access from the outdoors staircase shared by the Donatello apartment.
It is composed of a large living/dining room, with a small adjacent kitchen, and a corridor leading to the night area with its 2 large double bedrooms and spacious bathroom; the total area is 99 sq.m..
The apartment is fully furnished and renovated, leaving all the original details like the traditional exposed beam brick ceilings and the antique terracotta brick floors.
The light coloured furniture and exposed wood make the interior warm and welcoming, a mix of shabby chic and rustic.
The large, airy living room faces onto the garden, offering a sensation of peace and nature through its panoramic windows.
The Castro offers its guests the best services to ensure a comfortable, relaxing stay.
The Raffaello apartment has its own internal washing machine, dryer and ironing board so that you can wash and iron your clothes at your own convenience.
We also offer an office area where you can work with your laptop, with a comfortable office chair suited to many hours at the desk.
The Raffaello offers all the comforts our guests desire, including TV.
The kitchen area has everything you need to organise your lunch and dinner: cookware and tableware, oil, salt and pepper, a microwave oven, refrigerator, oven and cooktop, coffee machine and – last but not least! – a handy dishwasher.
In the cold weather, you can warm yourself with the cosy stove or central heating and a handy electric heater, while the dehumidifying air conditioner keeps you cool and relaxed even during the hottest summer days.
